1. Purpose of GPguide

GPguide provides documentation drafting support and template-based outputs to assist clinicians in preparing clinical documentation (for example, GP care plan and review templates and mental health plan documentation drafts). All outputs are intended to be starting-point drafts only.

2. Not medical advice / no clinical decision-making

GPguide does not provide medical advice and is not a substitute for clinical judgement. GPguide does not diagnose conditions, determine urgency, recommend specific treatments, prescribe medicines, or make patient-specific clinical decisions. Any output may be incomplete, incorrect, or not appropriate for a particular patient context.

3. Clinician review, verification and responsibility

You (the treating clinician) are solely responsible for:

  • Verifying the accuracy and completeness of any draft
  • Ensuring the content is clinically appropriate for the specific patient
  • Ensuring the final document meets your professional standards and any relevant clinical, legal, and record-keeping requirements
  • Editing and finalising wording before use, printing, sharing, uploading, or filing

GPguide outputs must be reviewed, edited, and approved by a clinician before being used in clinical care or provided to a patient or third party.

4. No billing, MBS, or compliance advice

GPguide does not provide billing advice and does not guarantee Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) compliance, eligibility, correct item selection, audit outcomes, or claim acceptance.

Any MBS item references or suggested structures are provided for informational support only. You must independently review and assess all MBS item descriptors, explanatory notes, and Services Australia guidance in the context of the specific patient consultation before claiming. Use of GPguide does not guarantee Medicare eligibility, rebate entitlement, or compliance with Medicare requirements.

Practitioners are encouraged to refer to MBS Online and consult with their professional advisers where appropriate.

5. No patient identifiers (required condition of use)

GPguide is designed for non-identifying inputs. Do not enter patient identifying information into GPguide. This includes (without limitation): patient name, date of birth, address, phone number, email address, Medicare number, DVA number, IHI, medical record number, or any other information that could reasonably identify a patient.

This “do not enter personal/sensitive information into generative AI tools” approach is consistent with OAIC guidance on privacy and commercially available AI products.

6. Educational / informational use only

Where GPguide provides structure, headings, checklists, examples, or suggested wording, these are provided for educational and documentation-drafting purposes only. They are not a clinical guideline, and they do not replace:

  • Current local health service policies
  • College guidance
  • Relevant legislation and professional obligations

7. Regulatory status (TGA / SaMD)

GPguide is not classified as a medical device or Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) under the Therapeutic Goods (Medical Devices) Regulations 2002 (Cth) or the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).

GPguide is intended to support administrative and documentation-drafting functions only. It does not:

  • Diagnose, treat, prevent, or manage any disease or condition
  • Analyse patient-specific clinical data
  • Generate clinical decision-support outputs
  • Replace or augment professional medical or clinical judgement

If the regulatory classification of GPguide changes, we will update this disclaimer and notify users accordingly.

8. Professional services disclaimer

The Service does not constitute, and is not a substitute for, professional financial, legal, or risk management advice. You should seek independent professional advice where appropriate.

GPguide does not supervise or control the content of your inputs. Outputs are derived from your non-identifying clinical context combined with AI-generated drafting, which although constantly evolving and improving, may be inaccurate, incomplete, or at times inappropriate.

9. Limitation of reliance

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree that you will not rely on GPguide outputs as definitive clinical content without independent clinician verification, and you accept that use of the service is at your own professional discretion and risk.

10. Questions or concerns

If you have questions about safe use, please contact support@gpguide.com.au.

Draft templates only. Not medical advice. Clinicians must review and edit all outputs. Do not enter patient identifying information.
